AI Content Assistant dialog in StepsKit's tour builder — generating step titles and descriptions from UI context

Tour Copy Is Tedious to Write Well

You built a 15-step onboarding tour. Now you need a title and description for every step. Each one should be short, clear, and match the UI element it points to. That's 30 pieces of microcopy — and you haven't even started on your feature adoption tour yet.

Most teams default to generic copy ("Click here to continue") or leave steps blank during early drafts. The result is tours that feel robotic, skip context, or confuse more than they help. Good tour copy requires understanding the UI, maintaining narrative flow, and writing concisely — all at once.

StepsKit's AI Content Assistant handles the first draft. It reads your UI, understands the tour context, and generates copy that fits. You review, adjust, and publish — the hard part is done.

What the AI Understands

Context-aware suggestions
AI reads button labels, headings, ARIA attributes, and surrounding UI elements to understand what the user is looking at — then writes copy that matches.
Narrative flow across steps
Each suggestion considers previous steps in the tour. Step 3 doesn't repeat step 1. The result reads like a coherent walkthrough, not a collection of disconnected tooltips.
Iterative refinement
Not quite right? Add feedback like "make it shorter" or "focus on the benefit" and regenerate. The AI adjusts based on your direction.
Built for microcopy
Titles stay between 2-8 words. Descriptions are 1-2 sentences. The AI is tuned for product tour UX writing — concise, action-oriented, and scannable.

How It Works

  1. 1

    Select a tour step

Open the tour builder and pick any step that needs copy — new or existing.

  2. 2

    Click "Suggest Content"

StepsKit sends UI metadata (element text, tag type, page title) to the AI. No end-user data is ever transmitted.

  3. 3

    Review the suggestion

You get a suggested title and description. Accept as-is, edit it, or provide feedback and regenerate.

  4. 4

    Publish when ready

AI writes the first draft. You have full control over what goes live.

When AI Content Saves You Time

Onboarding tours with 20+ steps

Writing copy for a long onboarding flow is tedious. AI drafts every step in seconds — you just review the output and adjust tone. What used to take an afternoon takes 15 minutes.

Non-native English teams

Your product team knows the feature inside out but struggles with English microcopy. AI generates natural-sounding titles and descriptions that read like a native speaker wrote them.

Rapid feature adoption tours

You shipped a feature on Friday and need an adoption tour before the weekend. AI handles the copy so you can build, review, and publish in one sitting.

Frequently Asked Questions

What data does the AI see?
Only UI metadata: element text content, tag names, ARIA labels, page title, and the text of previous tour steps. It never sees end-user data, form values, passwords, or any personal information from your users.
Is the AI content any good?
It's tuned specifically for product tour microcopy — short, action-oriented, and context-aware. Most suggestions need minor edits at most. You always review before publishing.
How many AI generations do I get?
Free accounts get 10 generations to try the feature. Pro users ($19/month) get unlimited generations.
Can I still write copy manually?
Of course. AI is optional. Every step has standard title and description fields you can type into directly. The AI button is there when you want a starting point.
Which AI model powers this?
StepsKit uses Anthropic's Claude API. Your data is processed under Anthropic's API terms, which prohibit using customer data for model training. Anthropic retains API logs for 30 days for safety monitoring.
Does AI content affect my tour performance?
No. AI generates suggestions at build time in the dashboard. The embed script on your customers' site doesn't call any AI — it only displays the copy you approved.
